Fort Saskatchewan Bailout

I bailed out on the return back to Turner park after surviving most of the singletrack. That road ride yesterday had lots of climbing in the exposed heat which took more out of me than I thought. In the end the ride was pretty good so it was better than most likely hanging out at home. I just gassed out and decided to stay on the nice and easy paved on the way back which was still cooler than hanging out at home.

The ride did have quite a few exciting moments with two almost head on collisions. One was real close and me and the guy fist pumped and were on our way. The second wasn't as close and was on another of so many blind corners. I am used to riding there with low amounts of people. I picked the worst time of the day to ride. Oh well.

In the start of the ride out ofTurner park I had a rare hero moment when I came up on three women and a kid at the steep descent after the rest bench. I stopped when I came up on them and they said they wanted to watch me go down it so I knew right away my marriage was in trouble. 'These women are gonna fall in love with me' I smugly thought just like Reggie would in an Archie comic.

The hill really isn't that bad in a mountain bike sense. There are worse further down the trail right?

Being the dork I am (or just typical guy) I came in hot and flew down the hill and whipped around the steep turn quickly and heard all three of them say cool things. It was a rare moment that happens on the trails when people who don't understand mountain biking see what a mountain bike does and they are usually smitten. It happened to me in Jasper back in the glory years numerous times.

It seems sad how I thrive off that but would guess it's pretty normal, us humans love their ego stroked.

As I started to power down on the outermost loop I almost ran over a snake. I missed him and immediately stopped to obviously grab the phone camera  but he was long gone. He was pretty cool and I should have taken home because humans rule over animals.

I'm obviously kidding, don't send angry letters.
