Insanely nice cool weather with some rain hit us and I was all in on rolling around on the now some would say main bike of these past two no snow seasons.
I believe the Moots stuttered downstairs when I typed that. The gravel bike option opens the front door to pretty decent rides now hence the high numbers.
This one thankfully was not local. An after work excursion on the now kind of typical route. There are some pretty decent climbs on this one which I needed after the rib fiasco and easy flat riding for the last little bit.
The first climb out of Wedgewood ravine slapped me around for a bit and I was fine after that. The downhill into that is insanely fun and can be dangerously fast. They did a good job of creating bike lanes separated from the walkers I can only imagine the conflict back in the day from douchebags whipping past people.
I got lost in the Wolf Willow suburbs looking for the trail down to the Fort Edmonton bridge. I oddly and maybe creepily know where Ryan Smith of the Oilers house is and when I see that I know where to go.
That damn house was not showing itself to me as I bypassed it by about half a kilometre. I wasn't gonna be a chump and take out my phone and open a map. I was kind of hoping Ryan Smyth would pick me up in his Cybertruck (I assume he has cause he's cool) and he would want to hang out with another athlete such as myself and we would go for beers and he would want to know what it's like to be the Lonebiker but that sadly never happened and I eventually found the house.
No I wasn't stalking the place. It's a point of reference ok.
*its really fucking sad I just had to type another disclaimer on here
The Whitemud Road climb was rough as usual. That turn to the right and up the sidewalk is hard on the mind to see when you're already gassed from the climb up.
That climb and the much easier climb up beside the Estate acreages into Terwillegar were getting close to the last climbs out until I crossed the Henday and rode back up to Cameron Heights.
Best ride I had since the rib wipe out. Giddy up.
