A Little Slice of Heaven

An ok ride in the heart of the heavenly area of Elk Island was had this afternoon. The views and cool roads and sights along the way made up for feeling like garbage as my legs were two pillow sacks full of wet cement. I think I hit seventeen kms in the end so I was happy about that but I feel like Elk Island deserves much more kilometres put in if making the trip. Especially on a gravel bike.

Did I overemphasis "especially on a gravel bike" good enough? I am sorry I don't like using exclamation points all too often. I get annoyed when people use them too much because I am a psycho. The worst ones are the office manager types sending out company wide emails telling everyone to have a good weekend! or sometimes they add multiple exclamation points to really try and show you how much they want you to have a good weekend!!!

What the hell am I going on about? Fuck me I am really filling this older white guy stereotype quite nicely right now. I mean really, who cares about exclamation points. I was once a grand contributor to the multiple exclamation point texts and emails and maybe even this here blog in the early days.

Enough about this shit already.

A ride happened in Elk Island which started in a less busier parking lot in the Astotin Lake Mega central human attraction zone. Today was a very high human infestation level despite the threat of rain and constant wind. People were fuckin everywhere. I took the road out and rode the Shoreline trail and explored the outcroppings of campsites and even made it to the actual Elk Island in the park.

I didn't understand how you could ride out to it cause it's attached to the land one would call mainland when on an island. I got bit or stung by something in there and did enjoy the tight trail that winded it's way around the island, or some would say "island."

The plan was to ride to the administration buildings on the other side of the lake and maybe keep going or turn around and venture elsewhere but I felt like garbage. I also inhaled a bug and almost threw up so that was fantastic. Blame the humidity for feeling like garbage? I don't know know man!!

Today Had so Much Potential

The plan was a Cameron Heights trip through glorious singletrack out to Fort Edmonton with maybe a trip back through Selkirk Knights after...
