It was decided at work that I would park at the Terwillegar parking lot. A spot I feel that I have not started at in a very long time. The plan was to just be a good old regular Terwillegarite and stay in the park and ride the outer doubletrack and rise up into the hills and trees.
The thought was grand.
The thought was genius.
Why it might have been the best thought I had all freakin day.
Until I saw the parking lot. It wasn't full but it was still quite busy and a good majority of people had mountain bikes they were prepping to go. I saw lots of Go Pro's on top of helmets and had a bad feeling about spending time in these trails. Not that I might appear in someones Youtube video there is just something about that go pro helmet guy... I don't know man.
Were they heading to the drops? I hope so guys cause then that just makes sense
Wow. the things I worry about on here.
So I left Terwillegar and crossed into the Heavenly Jan Reimer park and took the outer singletrack which I cannot remember the name or nor do I care (oh my god guys, he's so edgy!) I rode up the great Baked Clam Soup trail... aww shit Imma gonna have to look that one up.
Clamland! I was close anyways. the legs were garbage but I did work in the heat all day so I was expecting this. I avoided Purgatory and rode up Patrica Ravine through the old great neighbourhood where I grew up in my glory years. I eventually crossed back on the Quesnell and planned on riding the Fort Edmonton river multi use.
I had a real hankering to ride Selkirk Knights and chose to do so. If I heard that thought in Clamland that I would be riding Selkirk I would probably slap myself in the face for thinking something so stupid. I guess things in rides change. Selkirk kicked my ass but I did a bit better than I thought and was going to and was able to gain power after some of the long power climbs. Win win baby!
I did tap out and take a break on quite a few of those climbs. I did have a very hard wipeout on one of the steeps and now it hurts to type. I came down hard on my chest so its a bit sore now. I crossed the Fort Edmonton bridge and rode through Flat Pete's and that log trail and surprisingly encountered very few people.
The ride ended at an almost full insane parking lot where I felt like I rolled into a Wal Mart.
